Method | Science | Journals | Conferences | Papers | Popular | Books Conference ProceedingsConference proceedings originate in conferences or symposia and are often an important part of defining an emerging area of interest. Publication can be timely depending on the speed with which the papers submitted are acquired, reviewed, edited and published by the conference organizers. Proceedings may not always be peer-reviewed. Papers are usually written by respected members of the field or may be written by first-time conference participants. Submissions may be "white papers," defining a topic or point of view, or they may be reviews, original research papers, abstracts or case studies. They can presage broad trends or present new and interesting ideas elicited from narrow issues. Acquiring conference proceedings can be difficult as they are usually published in limited quantity.
